My next door neighbor, Craig Larsen, and I
had been talking for a number of years about
the possibility of taking a photo outing
together. As they don't usually stay that
long and usually have family in tow, we have
not be able to make that happen. Until
today!
Our objective was to arrive at Schwabacher
Landing before sunrise. We did get there
before sunrise. On the way down the hill
from the highway, we spotted about group of
six elk.
We got to "the spot" and set up our tripods
before the sun came up. Not long afterwards,
we were joined by another four
photographers.
We took quite a few photos as the sun rose.
We then packed up our equipment and decided
we would try some other places in the Park.
Our next stop was the area across the inner
Park road that is across from the road that
leads to String Lake. Craig had never been
there. In my opinion, this area offers some
compositions that you don't see in a lot of
photographs of the Tetons.
We next stopped at the parking lot off the
John D. Rockefeller Parkway (the outer Park
road) on the right just before you get to
the turn onto Antelope Flats Road.
There we were able to get a photos of a
fellow climbing the rock wall as well as
some compositions of the Tetons you don't
normally see.
Our last stop was Mormon Row. By this time,
it was 4:00 PM and we had covered a great
deal (we started at Schwabacher at 8:15 AM). |
